Users of Zoom, Panopto, and VoiceThread can record their screens in various ways.
Recording your screen with Zoom
To record your screen using Zoom, visit UM System Zoom and select Host from the top right. From the dropdown menu, select Screen share only (see Fig. 1).

Your Zoom meeting will then open with the screen share selector open. If you'd like your recording to have audio, be sure to join computer audio. Select the screen you would like to share, select any audio sharing options you would like to include (such as sharing computer sound or optimizing for video) and select Share. When you are ready to begin the recording, select the More menu at the top and choose to record either on the local computer or in the cloud (not available on Zoom Protected). When you have finished recording, stop your screen share; this will stop the recording.
Recording your screen with Panopto
Panopto Capture
To record your screen with Panopto Capture, open Panopto Capture and ensure that no camera is selected by going to the Video tab and deselecting your camera(s). Once this step is complete, share the desired screen, and the tab audio if desired, and proceed with your recording. After you stop recording, the recording will automatically upload to Panopto for editing and/or sharing.
Panopto recorder for Windows or Mac
To record your screen with the Panopto recorder for Windows or Mac, open the Panopto recorder. If you have never installed the recorder, you wil need to install that by following the instructions in Installing Panopto for Windows or Installing Panopto for Mac. Ensure that "none" is selected in the Video dropdown. If you have multiple screens, you can do a screen capture preview to ensure you are going to be recording the correct screen. Once you've confirmed that your audio works properly, you can begin recording, minimize the Panopto recorder, and begin your recording. Once you are finished, bring the Panopto recorder back up to stop the recording. Once the recording has uploaded to Panopto, you can edit out the beginning and end of your video, and any other parts you would like to edit out.
