Enabling Zoom captions during a meeting

Zoom has enabled live transcription for University of Missouri System. This service is at no cost. Note: While the captions are fairly accurate, this service may not fully meet ADA requirements for accommodation. This service does not apply to Zoom Protected accounts.

To turn on captioning, please follow the instructions below.

  1. Look for the Captions icon on the Zoom taskbar. Depending on your screen size, it may be under the More menu.
  2. Next, select Captions (See Fig. 1). Please note that depending on your role, you may have fewer options in the Captions menu than are shown in Figure 1.

  3. A menu of options appears, such as caption language and settings (See Fig. 2). Please note that, depending on your role, you may have fewer options than are shown in Figure 2.

  4. Select Show Captions. A dialog box will appear, asking you to select the caption language. Select your Caption language and then select Save (See Fig. 3).

  5. To hide the captions, select Hide Captions (See Fig. 4).
