Using Zoom whiteboards in Canvas

Tags Zoom

Instructors and students can now access their Zoom whiteboards directly through Canvas, making it easier to collaborate and share in Canvas courses.

If Zoom is not already enabled in your Canvas course navigation, you will need to follow the steps in this article to add it.

  1. Open your Canvas course and select Zoom from the course navigation menu.
  2.  Select Whiteboard from the tabs at the top of the screen to access the Whiteboard area (See Fig. 1).

  3. Launching a Whiteboard from the Canvas course will automatically create a Whiteboard folder for your class. Anything added to that folder will have the following default permissions.
    1. Co-owners - all instructors listed on the course, including TAs will be considered co-owners of the whiteboard.
    2. Commenters - students in the course will be commenters, allowing them to comment and ask questions, but not edit the main content of the board.
  4. You can override these default permissions, or provide permissions to others, by going to the Project folder and selecting + Add Members (See Fig. 2).

  5. Alternatively, Sharing permissions can be adjusted at the board level.
