Generating a transcript of a meeting or webinar

Note: Cloud recording is not available on the UM System Protected domain, so the transcript feature is not available. In the regular domain, the audio transcript is a locked setting and will be generated when a cloud recording is created.

Generating a transcript

  1. Start a meeting or webinar.
  2. Select the Record button and choose Record to the Cloud (See Fig. 2).

  3. After the meeting ends, you will receive an email that lets you know that your cloud recording is available. This email includes a link to view your recordings and transcript.
Note: If you use the Panopto integration, your recording may be moved to the Zoom trash. Review this article for more information about recovering your recording and transcript.

Audio transcripts are saved in VTT format. If you download the VTT file, you can open it with a text editor or word processing application. You can also view or edit transcripts in the web portal:

    • This opens the Recording Details page, which includes at least two files:
      • Audio Only
      • Audio transcript - English(original)
    • If you selected other files for the cloud recording, these will also be included:
      • Shared screen with speaker view
      • Shared screen with gallery view

      • Chat file
  2. Select the Audio Only file, or one of the recording views if available.
