Canvas Rubrics

Canvas Rubrics is scoring tool that specifies criterion for a given assignment. Rubrics are a part of Canvas. Instructors and students access Rubrics through Canvas Assignments and Discussions.

  • Communicate assessment expectations to users.
  • Align pre-defined learning Outcomes to your course assignments and assessments.
  • Assess online submissions in the SpeedGrader.

What is unique about Rubrics?

  • One rubric can be attached to multiple assignments.
  • Rubrics can be attached to Assignments and Discussions.
  • Rubrics can be set up as non-scoring rubrics, which allows for assessment-based and outcome-based grading without points.
  • Students can fill out rubrics as part of evaluating their peers' assessments in a Peer Review assignment.

Technical requirements

Rubrics are a part of Canvas, so there is no software to install. Canvas Rubrics will run in your web browser and on almost any internet connection.
