Connect an Android Device to TigerWiFi

Question

How do I connect an Android Device to TigerWiFi?

Answer

Does the device support TigerWiFi?

If your device is listed on the “Not Supported” list for TigerWiFi, you cannot continue with the steps below.

How to Connect to TigerWifi;

NOTE: If you are unable to connect, try using the DOMAIN\username format in the Identity field. (The domain for most campus students, faculty, and staff will be UM-AD\ and most hospital students, faculty, and staff will use the UMHS-USERS\ domain.)

1. Go to Apps/Settings.
2. Click Wi-Fi.
3. Turn on Wi-Fi.
4. Choose TigerWiFi from the list.
5. For EAP choose PEAP.
6. For Phase 2 authentication choose MSCHAPV2.
7. For CA certificate choose (in order of preference):

- Trust on First Use (also known as T.O.F.U.)
Do not validate
- (unspecified)

8. Anonymous Identity should be blank.
9. For Domain, type umad.umsystem.edu.
10. For Identity, type your PawPrint/SSO

- Only your PawPrint, NOT your full address ending in @umsystem.edu or @missouri.edu or @health.missouri.edu.

11. For Password, type your University password.
12. Use of M.A.C. randomization will cause disconnection from TigerWiFi after 60 seconds, so a different setting needs selected.

 - For Samsung devices:
        1. Select View more.
        2. For MAC address type select Phone MAC.
 - On other devices:
        1. Select Advanced.
         2. For Privacy select Use Device MAC.

13. Click Connect.
14. If you chose Trust on First Use for CA certificate

- You might see a security certificate dialog.
- Click Trust if prompted.

What to do if it will not connect;

1. For the Identity section, try the DOMAIN\USERNAME format

- For USERNAME, enter the username of the university account.
- For most on-campus users, DOMAIN will be UM-AD
- For most hospital users, DOMAIN will be UMHS-USERS
- For example, UM-AD\abc123

2. If TigerWifi was saved to the Wi-Fi list and the device still cannot connect to the internet:

- Go to Apps / Settings.
- Choose Wi-Fi.
- In the list, beside TigerWifi click the gear icon.
- Choose Forget.
- From a different device, verify your password works when you manually type it to access https://accounts.umsystem.edu
- Wait 15 minutes, then complete the above steps in Connecting to TigerWiFi.
