Adding a missing Canvas course to your Dashboard

If you are missing a course from your Canvas dashboard, there are a couple of things that you can check before reaching out to our team.

If you are an instructor/TA/grader/observer/course coordinator

1. Make sure you are listed with that role in PeopleSoft,
2. Make sure that you have passed the FERPA quiz.

If you are a student

1. Check how long it has been since you registered for the course. Enrollment in Canvas is usually complete within 12 hours, but it can take up to 24.
2. Check to see if your instructor has published the course site and/or the availability date has passed by following steps 1 and 2, below, and looking for Future Enrollments.

If you are enrolled in the Canvas course and you would like it to show on your Canvas Dashboard, you can favorite or "star" that course.

Adding a course to your Canvas Dashboard

1. From the Global Navigation Menu, select Courses.
2. Select All Courses.
3. Find the course in the list and select the hollow star (See Fig. 1).
4. The star will fill in and turn orange (See Fig. 1).

5. To remove a course from your dashboard, select a filled-in (orange) star to return it to its hollowed state.
6. After starring your courses, go back to your Canvas Dashboard, and it will automatically filter for your favorited courses.

2. To remove a course from your dashboard, select a filled-in (orange) star to return it to its hollowed state.

Changing your Canvas Dashboard view

Select the three vertical dots towards the top of the page to change your Canvas Dashboard view (See Fig. 2).

• Card View shows the course cards of your favorite courses.
• List View shows the agenda items with To-Dos.
• Recent Activity View shows the recent activity from your courses.
