Ally accessibility report

Ally's course accessibility report provides instructors with an overview of the accessibility of their course content within Canvas. The report acts as a complement to other accessibility indications in Canvas by providing a summary and overview at the course level.

Course accessibility report

Ally’s course accessibility report features both Overview and Content tabs, allowing users to see the overall accessibility of digital course content as well as dive into specific details.

How do I access the accessibility report?

The Ally Accessibility Report link should display in the course navigation list (see Fig. 1). If the navigation link does not display, follow the steps in the article, How do I manage Course Navigation links? to update the course navigation links.

Overview tab

The Overview tab displays the accessibility score for the course, course content grouped by content type, and a list of all issues identified in the course (see Fig. 2).

Content tab

The Content tab shows the content in Canvas with accessibility issues (see Fig. 3). Instructor can access the content tab by selecting Content, or by selecting start in the All course content box on the Overview tab.

Determine how to approach remediation

The report can assist with deciding how to approach accessibility remediation. The Overview tab provides two filters: Content with the easiest issues to fix and Fix low-scoring content (see Fig. 4). When an instructor selects Start, a list of content that matches one of these criteria will display.

The data tables in the Overview and Content tabs can also be filtered. In the Overview tab, remaining issues can be filtered by severity, issue, and content affected (see Fig. 5). To view the files, select the right-facing arrow at the end of the row.

In the Content tab, files can be sorted by name, issue, or Ally score (see Fig. 6).

From both views in the Accessibility report, the Ally score indicator or a file can be selected to open the feedback panel for remediation of the accessibility issue. Additional information about the feedback panel is available in the article, Ally score indicators and feedback panel.
