Flag and Kudo Comment Examples Overview for Academic Early Alerts

This guide provides ready-to-use comment templates to support student success through MU Connect and the Academic Early Alert process.  Students are more responsive to personalized and specific messages, and the information aids follow-up for staff and advisors. Whether you’re raising a flag or sending a kudo, you’ll find links to articles with short, customizable messages in three tones:

  • Formal – professional and polished

  • Friendly – supportive and conversational

  • Direct – clear and to the point

These messages are designed to fit into the larger student messages, help you quickly share feedback and encourage students to take action.  


How to Use This Page

  1. Click on the link to the flag or kudo you want to use.

  2. Choose a tone that matches your teaching style or the situation.

  3. Copy the message and paste it into the comment box in MU Connect.  Personalize the message with additional context or specific feedback.
