Completing a Progress Survey

Progress Surveys allow instructors to raise concerns (flags) and send compliments (kudos) to students regarding their academic performance at targeted times; however, instructors can raise flags and send kudos at any point in the semester. Each alert generates an email, sent on behalf of the instructor, directly to the student. Advisors and Support Staff conduct outreach to students for many of the flags raised.

  1. Click Log In at muconnect.missouri.edu.  Use your MU login credentials.
  2. Use the Progress Survey link on the MU Connect homepage OR click the Menu icon > Students > Progress Surveys tab (displays the number of active surveys to complete). Use the drop-down arrow to select additional surveys (if you have multiple courses/sections).

  1. Check the box for each desired item/student combination. Include detailed comments to give context for the flag, kudo, or referral – these are sent directly to the student in an email. Full email templates can be found on the MU Connect website.

Pro Tip: If you have multiple concerns for a student, raise the highest-level flag and include comments to explain your concerns. For example, student missed classes, didn’t turn in an assignment, and is now in danger of failing the course, raise the In Danger of Failing flag and include those details in your comments.

  1. Click the Submit button only when you are finished providing feedback for all students in the course/section. You are not able to edit or add items to the survey once you’ve submitted. You can raise additional flags, kudos, and referrals using the Zoom In or My Students tabs.
