TidyUP

TidyUP is a software that integrates with Canvas to help users identify unpublished pages, delete outdated content, and remove empty folders in Canvas courses.

How can I use TidyUP in teaching?

In courses that have been taught and copied multiple times, old materials can accumulate quickly, taking up space that could be used instead for new materials. TidyUP allows identification of these old/unused files so they can be removed. Not only does TidyUP help to clear space for new materials, but it also helps remove older content. As we all work together to meet digital accessibility standards by April 2026, removing older, inaccessible files will be important. TidyUP can help with that!

What is unique about TidyUP?

TidyUP not only identifies outdated content and empty folders, but it also allows instructors to delete these items in bulk, making for a user-friendly experience of cleaning up your Canvas courses.

Who can use it?

TidyUP is available to all UM System instructors as part of a pilot program from January 6, 2025 to December 31, 2025.

How do I get started?

TidyUP is enabled for all Canvas courses within the UM System. Select TidyUP from the lefthand course navigation menu to begin!
