Enabling addtional desktop security with the Honorlock Desktop Application

Body

Honorlock offers an additional, optional desktop application to use alongside the required Honorlock Chrome Extension. The Honorlock Application offers additional security against AI tools and allows students to access desktop programs during an exam, even when the BrowserGuard feature is enabled.

To enable, toggle on the Enhanced Desktop Security feature, (see Fig. 1). Students will be prompted to install the application after launching the exam; you can provide the download links in advance if you wish.

For more details about this feature, please refer to the Honorlock Application guide.

⚠️Note: The Honorlock Application works on Windows and Mac, but is NOT compatible with Chromebooks. Students using Chromebooks can still access Honorlock-enabled exams without issue, but the additional security features will not apply.

⚠️Note: The Honorlock App requires test takers to install and run the application, which may not be permitted on a managed device, such as a shared computer, a University-managed computer, or in a computer lab.
