Your first time enrolling in any MU Extension online course requires you to create a new account. There are three steps to complete before you enroll in your course.
- Create your account
- Activate your account
- Verify your account. Once your account has been verified, you will be able to pay for and enroll in your MU Extension online course.
⚠️Note: If you will be using a work email to create an account and you do not receive a code, consult with your IT department to check if incoming emails from noreply@umsystem.edu (for user account creation notifications) and notifications@instructure.com (for enrollment and course notifications) are being blocked by your organization. An alternative is to use a personal email address to create your account.
Step 1: Create an account
- The course enrollment page will open from the Extension course information page.
- Select $ Enroll (See Fig. 1).

- Select Alternative Login on the Canvas login page (See Fig. 2).

- Select to use an existing Google (gmail) or Microsoft (hotmail, live.com, microsoft.com, etc.) account OR select Other Login to create a new account (See Fig. 3).
⚠️Note: We highly recommend using an email account that you own and to which you will always have access. We can help if you have questions regarding which log in method to choose. You can also reach out to Academic Technology via email, phone or live chat.

- If you selected an existing Google (See Fig. 4) or Microsoft account, select your account and enter your login information.

- If you selected Other Login, on the next screen, select Create Account (See Fig. 5).

- Enter your first name, last name, and email, then select Create (See Fig. 6).

Step 2: Activate your account
After you have created your account, you will see a message to check your email to complete the account activation process (See Fig. 7).

⚠️Note: Your new ID is in the email.
- Open the activation email (See Fig. 8). If you do not see the New Account Activation Email in your inbox, be sure to check your Junk or Spam folders.

- Take note of your User ID.
- Select the activation link.
- Set your account password and select Activate Account (See Fig. 9).

- Select Continue (See Fig. 10).

- Now enter the user ID you were given and the password that you just created and select Login (See Fig. 11).

Step 3: Verify your account
- Please verify your account the first time that you log in. Enter your email address and select Submit (See Fig. 12).

- Check your email for the verification code and enter it in the box.
- Select Submit (See Fig. 13).

- After you have verified your account, you may enroll and pay for your extension course.
