Beginning June 1, 2026, videos archived in accordance with our retention policy will be permanently deleted.
- Go to Panopto and sign in.
- From the left navigation panel, select System (see Fig. 1).
- Select Archive.

- You will see a list of all videos currently archived under your account.
- Hover over the video and select the Restore from Archive icon (see Fig. 2).

- The restore process will begin.
⚠️Note: Shorter and newly archived videos might be restored within a few hours. Longer or older videos may take up to 72 hours to restore.
- You will receive an notification when a video is restored and ready to view.
How to prevent a video from being archived
Any view (by you or your viewers) resets the 18‑month inactivity timer.
- Periodically play the video (even briefly).
- Share the video with your students or embed the video in Canvas, which will generate viewing activity.
- Reuse the recording in a current or upcoming course.
