TurnItIn’s Draft Coach will be available in the University of Missouri System’s O365 beginning January 6. Draft coach will help correct any accidental plagiarism, citations and grammar issues before submitting your work. Students can learn more and get started by visiting our knowledge base. As instructors you can share this information with your students to help them get started with this tool to help improve their writing.
Draft Coach does not suggest or rewrite text for users. It is not a Generative AI (LLM). It provides:

Similarity Checks – this uses the same technology that Turnitin uses to help identify possible plagiarism and passages that need to be quoted and/or cited. It does not detect possible use of AI in writing.

Citation Checks – helps identify missing references in the text and citations. It does not “fix” citations and references.

Grammar Guides – flags possible grammar errors and explains rules for errors in grammar, mechanics, usage, and structure. It does not check spelling per se but may catch some typos when reviewing mechanics
Draft Coach is available to users on all University of Missouri campuses who do not have a health- or hospital- related primary email address. This limitation is intended to prevent Turnitin/Draft Coach from inadvertently ingesting HIPAA-protected information.
