The Mill is a centrally managed High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster located in Rolla, Missouri accessible to researchers and their collaborators at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. The Mill is managed by the Centralized Systems branch of IT Research Support Services (RSS), and currently runs Alma 8.10 using SLURM as the scheduler and resource manager.
The Mill currently consists of 229 compute nodes; 25 of which have 128 CPU cores, 512GB of DDR4 RAM, and a single 1.6Tb NVME drive for local scratch; and 160 of which have 64 CPU cores, 256GB of DDR4 RAM, and a single 2.6TB NVME drive for local scratch; 44 nodes have40 CPU cores, 192GB of DDR4 RAM, and 2.6TB of local scratch, totaling 15,200 compute cores across the system. There are 8 GPU nodes; 6 with 4x Nvidia V100 GPUs; 1 with 8x H100 GPUs; 1 with 2x V100s, totaling 34 GPUs.
The network is based on an HDR InfiniBand backbone which provides up to 200 gigabits of data point-to-point on the network. Each node is attached to the backbone with an HDR-100 InfiniBand connection capable of providing 100 gigabits of data throughput per second to each node.
The Mill is connected to 250Tb of high-performance all-flash storage (VAST) as well as 800Tb of utility Ceph storage. Access to storage allocations is controlled by associated security groups applied to the share, with the ability for the PI to manage group access.
