Setting your appointment preferences

  1. Go to muconnect.missouri.edu and click on the Log In button.

  2. Click the menu icon in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.

  3. Click your name to open your profile.

  4. Click Appointment Preferences.

Office Hour Defaults

  1. The minimum and maximum appointment lengths will be overwritten based on the appointment type and reasons you use (that already have a default duration time as determined by your unit or department), so you can ignore this setting. 
  2. You can set a Scheduling Deadline for all scheduled appointments. Adjust as necessary for your preferences and/or your unit's guidelines.
    • No Deadline - Students will be able to schedule an appointment with you up until 1 minute prior to the meeting start time. 
    • The day before the office hours at:": - Students cannot schedule with you after a time you select the day prior. 
    • The day of the office hours at: - This allows students to schedule up to the morning of the office hour/appointment block
    • Hour(s) before the office hours: - Students can schedule up to a certain number of hours prior to the appointment block time the student would like to meet

Calendar Sync

In order for your MU Connect appointments to show on your Outlook calendar and MU Connect to read busy times from your Outlook calendar (so that students don't schedule over those times), you need to sync your calendars.

  1. Select whether you want MU Connect to email you calendar attachments (meetings) for
    • Appointment changes - this is recommended to ensure you get the notifications in Outlook and don't have to rely on checking MU Connect for updates
    • Changes to your Office Hours and Group Sessions - this is not recommended because these will block your calendar if you leave them marked as "busy" in Outlook.  If you mark the times as "Free" in Outlook, they will show on your calendar but will not block the time.

  1. Use the hyperlinked instructions to share your calendar.
  2. Check the box to "Allow MU CONNECT to read busy times" from your Outlook Calendar.

My Locations

Adding locations allows students to see and select how/where they'd like to meet with you. 

  • You must have at least one location before scheduling your office hours. 
  • Click Add Location and add relevant details.  You can choose from the following location type options:
    • Office - physical office location - enter the Room and Building in the "Location Name" box
    • Phone - you'll provide your phone number in the "Location Name" box
    • Elsewhere - other options not already listed
    • Online - enter the formal or application in the "Location Name" box and your Zoom personal link in the "Location URL" box
  • Provide any relevant instructions (specific directions, items to bring, etc.).  These should apply to all appointments scheduled for this location. These instructions are included in the email invitation students receive.
  • Click ADD LOCATION to save the changes.
  • To edit a location after saving, click the three dots under the Actions column and click Edit.
  • To delete a location, click the three dots under the Actions column and click Delete.

Calendar Management

Calendar Managers are those that have the ability to schedule appointments on your behalf.  You can add or remove calendar managers by emailing muconnectsupport@missouri.edu.

Save Changes

Click SAVE CHANGES at the bottom of the page when you're finished. You will need to do this every time you make a change to your appointment preference settings.
