Software Pilots

TidyUP

TidyUP makes it easy to identify unpublished pages, delete outdated content and remove empty folders in Canvas. By cleaning up your Canvas courses you can help to ensure we are being good stewards of our resources, and more importantly takes you one step closer to ensuring your course will meet accessibility standards for the April 2026 regulations. We encourage you to try TidyUP in your Spring 2025 courses. If you are interested in participating in the pilot or have questions please email TeachingTools@umsystem.edu. Please also see the TidyUp user guide.

TidyUp's list of best practices

  1. Encourage educators to TidyUP their courses.
  2. Question bank files are not recognized as "in use."
  3. Download files before deleting them.
  4. Run TidyUP at the beginning and end of the course.
  5. Have UDOIT? Run TidyUP first.
