Within Canvas, an instructor has the option to use Impact Course Reports and the New Analytics Tool to get information about students’ course activity.
What is unique about Impact Course Reports and New Analytics?
Both tools allow faculty members to monitor the student engagement in the course, however, there are some differences between the tools and the information they provide.
-
Impact Course Reports are more focused on tool adoption - monitoring and then ideally deepening the use of Canvas and LTI tools.
-
New Analytics is more of an academic-focused tool (grades/submissions and engagement around grades/work/submissions, comparison of students to students and/or students to section, and granular view of participation/attendance).
Who can use it?
Any user with the teacher role in a course can access Impact Course Reports. Students and teachers have access to the New Analytics tool.
How do I get started?
You can access both Impact Course Report and New Analytics Tool from your course navigation menu.
