Retirement Gift Process

When an employee retires, follow these steps to process their retirement gifts:

  1. Retirement Approval
  • The retiring employee meets with UM System Benefits for retirement consultation and approval.
  • Once approved, a retirement ePAF (Electronic Personnel Action Form) will be processed.
  1. Contact and Form Submission
  • Shared Services will contact the retiring employee’s department.
  • Shared Services will send a Retirement Gift Form to the department for completion.
  1. Form Completion and Gift Ordering
  • The department completes the Retirement Gift Form and returns it to Shared Services.
  • Shared Services will order the retirement gifts, which include:

      • Custom Plaque

      • Gift Card

Important Notes

Timely Action: Ensure the Retirement Gift Form is completed and returned promptly to avoid delays in processing.

Gift Delivery: Gifts will be ordered and delivered according to the timeline provided by Shared Services.
