Can I use a router or unmanaged switch?:
- Router: You can bring a router from home, but make sure to turn off its Wi-Fi. The dorms already have Wi-Fi, so you won't need it from your router.
- Unmanaged Switch: Your router will use one campus network address and can connect several devices through its wired ports. If you need more wired connections than your router has, you can add an "unmanaged switch" to one of the router's ports. This will give you more ports to plug devices into.
Note: Don't connect a regular switch directly to the campus network. Each device connected to it would use a separate network address, which we want to avoid.
