How do I change the private Wi-Fi Address Settings for iOS devices?
Answer
iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches use a private MAC address by default when connecting to Wi-Fi networks. This can prevent your device from connecting to TigerWiFi due to conflicting security settings. Follow the steps below to adjust the Private Wi-Fi Address setting while connected to TigerWiFi.
iOS 18 or later:
1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap Apps, then tap Wi-Fi.
3. Tap the information (i) button next to TigerWiFi.
4. Tap Private Wi-Fi Address.
5. Select Fixed or Off. Using Fixed is recommended, as it keeps your device's address stable for the network while maintaining some privacy.
6. Tap Rejoin to reconnect to the network.
iOS 17 and earlier:
1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap Wi-Fi.
3. Tap the information (i) button next to TigerWiFi.
4. Tap Private Address to turn off the feature.
5. Tap Rejoin to reconnect to the network.
If your device joined the network without using a private address, a privacy warning will explain why.
