There are two ways to change a password for a Canvas account created through Alternative Login for a Extension Canvas course. It depends on how you created your Canvas account. Note: Your email address is case sensitive. The email will not send if you do not get it correct.
Google or Microsoft
If you created your Canvas ID using a Google email address or a Microsoft personal email address (ex. Hotmail), you change your password at Google or at Microsoft. The Canvas password is exactly the same as the password you use to access your Google email or your Microsoft social email.
Other login
If you created a Canvas account using an org branded email address you set your password when you created your account. Org branded means an email address created from another email provider other than Google or Microsoft.
- Open a browser and navigate to umsystem.instructure.com
- Select Alternative Login
- Select Other Login
- Select Forgot Password and follow the instructions
