Making my site visible to students

Body

Students can only access your Canvas site after it is Published and the Start date has passed.

  1. By default, Canvas sites become available to students one week before the first day of the semester. To make your site available before that date, you can update the Start and End dates.
  2. Regardless of availability dates, you must publish your site before it is visible to users.

Students cannot see content in a Draft state. Students can only see the content of your Canvas site if it is Published.

  • Modules must be Published in order for students to view them and the content within them. See How do I publish or unpublish a page as an instructor? for more information.
  • Each item within a Module (a File, Page, Quiz, Discussion, or Link) must be Published for students to see it.

Students can only see navigation buttons that are Enabled. See How do I manage Course Navigation Links for more information.
