The MU Health Care Career Institute, established in 2015, is designed to create upward mobility for employees by offering educational opportunities that advance careers while supporting MU Health Care's needs. The program pays for both schooling and salaries during the education period. Since its inception, over 200 individuals have graduated, with a diverse range of career advancements achieved.

Programs currently offered include Certified Medical Assistants, Healthcare Facility Improvement Apprentices, Registered Nurses, Surgical Technicians, Paramedics, and Emergency Medical Technicians.
The Career Institute was born out of necessity in 2015 to address shortages in critical areas. A pilot program started with 11 employees selected from housekeeping and food service roles, and it has since expanded to multiple roles across the health system.
The Career Institute is set to continue expanding, with goals such as:

Offering holistic support to participants, including financial literacy education, career counseling, and ongoing check-ins after graduation.
Each program includes pre- and post-evaluations to measure specific goals, conducted in collaboration with departments and Human Resources. The program curriculum is tailored to departmental needs, ensuring a strategic combination of interactive learning, mentorship, and success stories that promote upward mobility.
Enrollment is offered periodically throughout the year to meet the needs of the organization.
The MU Health Care Career Institute continues to improve lives, providing education, training, and opportunities for advancement, thus impacting the economic stability of the workforce we value.
