How do I map a Research Data Ecosystem (RDE) lab share using my username in the SMB string in MacOS?

 

Answer

Note: Computer must be connected to the campus networks to access shares.

1. Within Finder, press Command key + K.

2. In the Connect to Server window:

a. In the dropdown box, type the SMB folder with username.

Example: smb://UserName:*@umad.umsystem.edu/rde/trumant-lab.

b. Then click "+" key to add to favorites.

c. Then click "Connect".

3. When prompted:

a.  Registered User is selected.

b. Username is already entered for Name.

Example:  trumant

c. Enter your email password for Password.

d. Click "Connect".

User authentication prompt.

 

 

4. Click "Connect" to confirm.

5. A Finder window with a list of folders within the new mapped share will be displayed.
