Cisco 8851 (Standard Desk Phone) Troubleshooting Guide

General Disruption

  1. Verify cords are plugged in correctly, in the back of the phone.
  2. Manually reset the phone:
    1. Choose Applications or Settings.
    2. Choose Admin Settings.
    3. Choose Reset settings.
    4. Choose Reset device.
    5. Confirm the reset.
      • The phone will indicate it is not registered with a spinning icon in the upper right corner.

Note: Do not press any keys on the phone until the display returns to normal. This may take a few minutes.

  1. If it doesn't work properly, obtain the current phone information:
    1. Choose Applications or Settings.
    2. Choose Phone information.
    3. Obtain:
      • IPv4 address
      • Host name (the MAC address)
      • Active load (the firmware version)
      • Last upgrade date and time

Note: Do not use the Report a Problem soft key

  1. Provide the phone information to Tech Support.
