How do I move a VoIP phone?

Answer

It is possible to move your VoIP phone (Cisco, etc) to another location. The new location must have an active data port for the Ethernet cable.

To request data port activation:

  1. Login at DoIT Portal.
  2. Click the Request Services tile.
  3. Scroll down and click on Networking & Telecom.
  4. Click Data Ports.
  5. Click Activate a Campus Data Port.
  6. Complete the Data Ports – Activate a Campus Data Port form.
  7. Click the Submit button (at the top of the form).

After moving the phone submit a request to update the phone's location in the Telecom billing system.

To submit a request to update the location of the phone:

  1. Login at DoIT Portal.
  2. Click the Request Services tile.
  3. Scroll down and click on Networking & Telecom.
  4. Click University Phone Service.
  5. Click Modify Phone Options.
  6. Complete the University Phone Service – Modify Phone Options form.
  7. Click the Submit button (at the top of the form).
