Globus Scenario Selector
What is it?
The Globus Scenario Selector tool asks the user questions to predict a configuration for a specific situation. It gathers information about the data source and target including data classification, locations, collection types and names, version of Globus Connect, and access to Globus subscription to provide a clear recommendation for users at the University of Missouri with the goal of enabling successful transfers of research data. In many scenarios it provides links to Knowledge Base articles to assist in getting started.
How do I use it?
Click on the link above and start answering questions.
It will start by asking the data classification for the data. It asks who has the data and who needs the data. Information is gathered about which version of Globus Connect, Server or Personal, is in use at each end, along with names of existing collections, prompts to create guest collections when needed and the capability is present. The tool can provide guidance for making new data available based on storage location and resources available. Additionally it considers the type and frequency of the needed transfer, including scheduled and recurring events.
When the questions have been answered, it will attempt to provide a plain language recommendation for the given situation. If it is unable to provide an adequate response, it will suggest reaching out to RSS for guidance.
