How Can RSS Assist Me with My Grant Proposal Submission?

Our team prioritizes the development of the next generation of computing resources and is working to implement solutions to improve the research data ecosystem (storage, data management). We provide a team of experts to help in-person with practical researcher IT needs, including assisting researchers with getting the necessary tools and equipment when standard processes don’t fit. We are committed to partnership with researchers to improve the viability and success of grant proposals.  If your project is likely to use any of these capabilities:  data storage, data sharing, high performance computing, quantum computing, hardware beyond a standard computing device, lab equipment for data collection, restricted data (PHI, HIPAA, NIST 800-171, CUI or CMMC then RSS can assist.

Security Reviews -  Our security team is available to review the verbiage outlined in the grant to determine the data storage and handling requirements to be in compliance.  Through discussions on the type of data being collected and stored, the Data Classification Level will be determined as well as if restricted data will be present.  Through this process, the goal is for the team to determine the options available for data storage that meets the proposal requirements while adhering to the University of Missouri data guidelines.  This will allow quotes for data storage to be gathered and included in the budget of the grant proposal.

Vendor Quotes - We work with University approved vendors to get preferred pricing and support for hardware and software or utilizing the investment option of our existing Hellbender cluster (if available).

Letters of Collaboration - Some grants require proof of campus IT knowledge/support of the proposal.

Regional Partnerships -  We are active members in several different regional network groups (Great Plains Network, CIMUSE, Campus Champions and more) that can be assets in finding partnerships for multi-institution projects.

Data Management Plans -  MU Libraries have good resources for DMP's for many of the most common granting agencies. Their staff is available to assist with questions you have on using the DMP tool. Learn more at MU Libraries Data Management.

Facilities Description -   You can get a thorough description of the facilities provided by RSS here: Article - RSS Description of Faciliti...

Procurement of Hardware/Software - Once a grant is awarded, contact RSS to have your hardware/software quote refreshed and we can assist by placing the order, monitor the purchase through delivery and set up.  We will communicate with your local IT and fiscal folks to ensure a smooth process.
