LISTSERV SSO Login Option

As of July 17th, 2026, LISTSERV will include an SSO login option for faculty/staff/students of the University of Missouri, including all campuses and Hospital employees.

The LISTSERV web Log In methods (and passwords) are not going away.  That is how non-university account holders will continue to access LISTSERV on the web https://lists.umsystem.edu.  However, the old Log In tool may also be helpful to users as they start using SSO logins.

The process is this: 

  1. Once the main Log In screen updates to show the "Single Sign-On" option at the bottom, it will be available to all university users.
  2. Follow the Single Sign-On link.  It will open up a new window in our single sign-on system. 
  3. This is where university accounts log in with their account@umsystem.edu identities and passwords.  
  4. Once they log in, they will return to the https://lists.umsystem.edu. 
  5. When they arrive back at LISTSERV, they will be logged in as their current email address.

For example:

  • When a user accesses the system, their SSO login might be account@umsystem.edu with that password.  But unless the user works for UM System, that probably won't be their default email address.
  • When authentication returns to LISTSERV, it will use the user's primary email address.  Say, account@missouri.edu or account@umkc.edu.  That is how LISTSERV will perceive the logged-in account. 

This is because LISTSERV is a third-party system focused on email functionality.  It only uses SSO for login.

In most cases, users already log into the system with their current email addresses.  There may be some users who went through marital name changes, or changed from one campus to another.

To those users:  Don't panic:  Remember, the default LISTSERV login and password is still available at that default Log In screen.  You can get in that way.
If you need to update your Subscriber entry to reflect a new email address, contact your list ownership.

List Owners can update Subscriber email addresses under https://lists.umsystem.edu, List Management > Subscriber Management.
For list management roles, such as Owner=, Moderator=, and Editor=, it may be useful to leave the existing entries for the old password system.  Just add another set of lines for your current email address.  This is found under https://lists.umsystem.edu, List Management > List Configuration.
