To pair an existing Cengage course with Canvas
View instructional videos to pair your Canvas course with Cengage MindTap or Cengage WebAssign.
- Copy a Canvas course with existing Cengage links.
- Go to Modules or Assignments in the Canvas course.
- Select any Cengage Assignment or Reading.
- After loading it in a new window, you will be prompted create a new course or copy an existing one, just as you would have if you had gone through the old Cengage tool. From this point on, the process is the same as in the past.
- Locate your previous Cengage course in the menu and select it.
- Fill in the information (course name, dates, and time zone) requested by Cengage.
- Select Continue.
- Choose the score type.
Add Activity Score shows individual Cengage assignments in the Gradebook.
Add Overall Score shows a single, comprehensive score for all Cengage assignments.
- Select Continue and wait for it to finish processing (about a minute).

Module Index Menu
Recommended (See Fig. 1)
- This placement is ideal for the initial course setup to add a lot of content all at once. It adds items to the modules page and graded assignments to both the modules and assignments.
- All items and assignments are added to a generic module and a generic assignment group. They must be moved by hand to the correct modules or assignment groups.

Course Assignments Menu
Recommended (See Fig. 2).
- This functions almost identically to the Module Index Menu.

When creating or editing an External Tool Module Item
Recommended for deploying new assignments to courses already set up or if for deep links to sections in the textbook (See Fig. 3).
- This placement allows you to add as many items or assignments as you wish at once time. It adds them to the current module.
- Uses: This is excellent for setting up a course or a module, as the items to not have to added to the module or drug from a generic module into place.

When creating and External Tool Assignment
This allows linking of only single assignments (See Fig. 4).
- This placement is the most limited. It only allows you to link one assignment at a time and only places it in the assignment group you select when creating the assignment.
- Uses: it is ideal for adding an assignment later in the semester that you do not want to appear in a module.

Once you click on any of these, you will be in the familiar Cengage interface previously used to select course content.
