Requesting matching papers from other instructors

Summary

This article explains why instructors cannot see papers from other classes that match submissions in Turnitin. It also details how to request copies of those papers.

Body

If you get a paper match in Turnitin that is from a class other than your own, either from within the UM System or another institution, you cannot automatically view it due to FERPA or foreign privacy laws. A few institutions allow this, but the University of Missouri System does not.

  4. This will send an email to the original instructor, who can then decide whether or not to release the paper to you. Instructors are not required to release papers. If they decide to release the paper, you will receive an email with the text of the paper.
