What Are Critical Staffing Pay Plans?
Critical Staffing Pay Plans are specialized compensation strategies that incentivize employees to meet staffing needs during critical times. These plans fall into two categories:

Extra Shift Premiums: This plan compensates employees who take on extra shifts beyond their regular schedules. It encourages team members to step up during periods of high demand while recognizing their commitment.

Premiums for All Hours Worked: In situations of acute need, this plan offers enhanced pay for all hours employees work in designated roles. It ensures fair recognition of their ongoing contributions in critical staffing scenarios.
Review and Approval Process
To maintain their effectiveness and fairness, these plans are reviewed every 12 weeks. This regular review ensures they remain aligned with the organization’s operational needs and budget constraints. Renewals of these plans require careful evaluation and must be approved by the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) or the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
