Absence occurrence and provider/physician excuses

This article provides information and interpretation of the Attendance policy, specifically discussing a work excuse from a physician/provider.

A doctor’s note or excuse will not negate the accrual of an occurrence for an unplanned absence.  HR 5016 Staff Attendance & Tardiness is a no-fault policy, which means the reason for any Unplanned Absences, No-Call/No-Shows or Tardiness is not a factor in determining disciplinary action.

Per the policy, unplanned absences related to an employee’s own inpatient hospitalization are not counted as attendance occurrences . This excludes visits to the Emergency Room and/or Urgent Care that do not result in inpatient admission.
