According to State Regulation 4 CSR 200-4.020(3), a graduate nurse loses their graduate practice permit upon notification of failing their first NCLEX examination taken or failing to obtain RN/LPN licensure in Missouri or a compact multi-state license within 90 Days of Graduation, whichever comes first.
(There is no limit to the number of times the NCLEX may be taken. However, per MO BON there is a minimum of 45 day waiting period between each attempt.)
The department manager and Human Resources will be notified of NCLEX results immediately upon receipt, per the NCLEX Agree to Test Form signed by GN/GPNs prior to hire.
NCLEX Pass Result Procedure (Non-Nursing Role to a Nursing Role)
Prior to promotion to a nursing role the following steps must be completed:
1. Department must notify HR of their intent to promote by submitting an AskHR Ticket.
2. Primary Source Verification of required credential must be obtained by HR.

3. HR will notify the Department once licensure is verified.
4. Promotion may be effective the day after primary source verification is obtained.
*For GN/GPNs hired initially into a Nursing Assistant role, promotion cannot occur until the date Nursing Housewide Orientation (NHO) is attended.
NCLEX Failure Result Procedure
Employees will receive an immediate demotion from their GN or GPN Job Code effective the date of the result to the Job Codes listed below:
1. Department must notify HR immediately upon receiving notice of a NCLEX failure by submitting an AskHR Ticket.
2. HR will submit and process a PAF to demote the employee from their GN or GPN job code.

3. HR will process the title change and create a new badge for the employee.
