MU Health Care's mandatory vaccination policy (MUHC HR-5032: Mandatory Vaccination) is designed to protect employees, patients, and the wider community by requiring vaccinations for all MUHC Staff, Medical Staff, and specified non-employees. These efforts help mitigate the risk of infectious disease transmission.
Certain vaccinations or immunizations are required before individuals are permitted to begin working at, for, or on behalf of MU Health Care unless they follow appropriate procedures to obtain a medical or religious exemption. In some circumstances, employees may be required to receive additional doses or attend follow-up visits as directed by Employee Health. Other vaccinations are required on an annual basis, with plenty of communications regarding deadlines. Regardless of when these items are required, failure to obtain required immunizations or vaccinations (or approved exemptions) by communicated deadlines face disciplinary action, including written warnings, suspension without pay, and potential termination.
Religious Exemptions may be available if a required vaccination or immunization conflicts with an employee's or candidate's sincerely held religious beliefs or practices. Medical Exemptions may be available where certain medical contraindications or conditions are present.
