Transferring Files

Transferring files to and from the Mill can be done via the terminal using the scp command. More user friendly are SCP clients, programs with graphical interfaces that give a traditional file browser interface and execute the required scp commands in the background. For Windows users, we recommend WinSCP. For Linux users, Filezilla.

WinSCP

To connect to the Mill, fill in the username, hostname and password fields. Add port 22 if not already filled in and hit login. You may elect to save the login details to make this faster, but it is not recommended to save your password for security reasons.

After you have logged in, you will see a pair of file browser windows. The left window represents the file structure on your computer and the right window represents the file structure on the Mill. Files can be uploaded/downloaded by dragging them from one side to the other. Note that this will only copy the files, the originals will remain.

Filezilla

Filezilla functions similarly to WinSCP but the login information is entered across the top of the file browser screen instead of in a separate login screen. Old configurations can be accessed by hitting the dropdown arrow on the quick connect button, allowing for saved configurations to be used. File upload/download can be accomplished in the same manner as in WinSCP.
