To gain access to the Missouri S&T secure networks you must first register your device by entering its MAC address, also known as an Ethernet address, in our device registration tool.
Be sure to find your devices' ethernet address.
How to Register Your Device
Faculty, Staff, and Students
- Go to https://netdb.apps.mst.edu.
- Log in with your S&T Username and password.
- Click Register desktop and laptop systems (Easy).
- Type your Username in the "Owner User ID" field.
- Click Edit Hosts.
- Remember what host number you have by the Hostname: field.
- Type in your device's MAC address in the Ethernet Address: field.

- Click Register.
- Verify the device host number you registered appears in the Devices Owned by list.
NOTE: All personal systems registered on the campus network should use 'device.mst.edu' as part of the hostname.
Guests and Visitors
- Go to the NetDB Guest Device Registration Tool.
- Fill in the given fields.
- Your Ethernet/Hardware Address: should auto-populate.
- If it didn't auto-populate, follow the steps below for your device and type in the MAC address in the field.
- Click Submit when done.
Why is it necessary to register your device?
- Missouri S&T’s computing policy requires all network-connected devices to be registered with IT.
- Without registration, the device poses a network security vulnerability.

Find Your Ethernet Address
NOTE: Ethernet address, MAC address, physical address, hardware address, and Ethernet ID are all terms that reference the 12 digit alphanumeric code
Windows 11
- Right-click the network icon on the bottom right of the taskbar and screen.
- Select Network & Internet Settings towards the bottom of the list.
- Find and click the Properties link of your current Ethernet or wireless connection.
- At the bottom of the list next to Physical address (MAC): you will find the Ethernet address in form 00:00:00:00:00:00
- Register both your MAC addresses at https://netdb.apps.mst.edu.
Mac
- Click System Preferences.
- Click Network.
- Check to make sure the Location is set to "Automatic".
- Click Wi-Fi.
- Click Advanced.
- Click Hardware.
- Note your wireless card 12-digit alphanumeric code of form 00:00:00:00:00:00.
- Click OK.
- Click Network.
- Click Thunderbolt Bridge.
- Click Details.
- Click Hardware.
- Note your Ethernet card 12-digit alphanumeric code of form 00:00:00:00:00:00.
- Click OK.
- Register both your MAC addresses at https://netdb.apps.mst.edu.
iPhone and iPad
- Select Settings.
- Select General.
- Select About.
- Scroll down to the Wi-Fi Address, this is the MAC address in form 00:00:00:00:00:00.
- Register both your MAC addresses at https://netdb.apps.mst.edu.
Android
- Go to the Settings app/icon on your phone or at the top menu bar.
- Scroll to the bottom of the list and select About phone.
- The MAC address is found under the Wi-Fi MAC address in form 00:00:00:00:00:00.
- Register both your MAC addresses at https://netdb.apps.mst.edu.
