How Do I Login to Hellbender?
There are three login options:
- Terminal using SSH and UM system password (Linux & Mac)
- Terminal Emulator (such as MobaXterm) using SSH and UM system password (Windows)
- SSH Public Keypair
NOTE: External (Non-UM System) and UM Health users can only use Public Key Authentication.
Logging in places you onto the login node. Under no circumstances should you run your code on the login node. If you are submitting a batch file, then your job will be redirected to a compute node. However, if you are attempting to use a GUI, ensure that you do not run your session on the login node (Example: username@hellbender-login-p1). To ensure your job does not run on the login node, use an interactive session such as:
salloc --time=1:00:00 –x11
Open OnDemand can also be used to be directed to a compute node to run your software.
