Question
How do I create a TDX Report?
Answer
To access the report builder, follow this designated path:
- Open TDNext
- Use the blue waffle

to Select the DoIT Ticketing application.
- Click the + Reports button
- Select the desired report source, most likely Ticket Report. However, there are other report types you can select. Click on the blue question mark to display help text that explains each report type.
- The report builder consists of various sections, each of which plays a crucial role and may require completion based on the specific report type being created. Available report types include None (which generates a grid list), Bar (Horizontal), Bar (Vertical), Line, Pie, and Gantt.
- Report Builder Sections:
- Name – Please provide a name for your report that conveys its purpose clearly to users at a glance. For instance, you might consider a title like "My Groups High Priority Tickets”.
- Describe your report – Give a brief description of the report. The report description will be visible when you choose “Show Details” from the Action drop down menu.
- Select the columns you would like to see – The fields mentioned in this section of the report will appear in the report's output. By default, certain fields will be included upon report creation. You have the flexibility to add, remove, or rearrange the fields as needed. To add new fields, click the green Add button at the top of this section. To remove a field, select "Remove" from the Action column. You can adjust the display order of the fields by selecting and dragging the hamburger icon in the Sort column. The Aggregate column enables you to aggregate numeric fields, while the Display Format column allows you to modify the date display format for date fields.
- Add filtering to your report – Incorporating fields into this section of the report builder will restrict the records displayed in your report output. If no fields are specified in the filtering area, the report will include all records relevant to the report type you are creating. To introduce new fields, click the green Add button located at the top of this section. To eliminate a field, choose "Remove" from the Action column. If you wish for the filtering field to request a value when the report is executed, check the “Prompt” box under the Options column.
- Show Advanced – This button, located in green beneath the "Add filtering to your report" section, is essential to complete if you are using multiple filter criteria. For additional guidance, please consult the help information available after clicking "Show Advanced."
- Order your report – Determine the fields to be utilized for sorting your report. Ensure you select either Ascending or Descending for each field specified in this section. To add new order fields, click the green Add button at the top of this section. To remove an order field, select "Remove" from the Action column.
- Set the maximum number of rows to retrieve – The value entered here will set the maximum number of records returned in a report. The value range can be from 1-50,000.
- Choose a report folder – Select and existing report folder from the drop-down list or use the “+” icon to create a new report folder.
- Owner and Visibility –
- The Owner field should be utilized to designate the report, Owner. This Owner can either be a specific individual or an established TDX Group. Assigning a TDX Group as the Owner is recommended, as it enables multiple individuals to oversee the reports. While individuals may change over time, groups provide a consistent management structure.
- Visibility options may include the Owner, which restricts the report's visibility to the designated group or individual in the Owner field. Alternatively, selecting Everyone with this Application allows access to all users who have permissions for the DoIT Ticketing application. The option for Owner and these People/Groups extends visibility to the Owning group or individual, along with any additional groups or individuals specified. Additionally, checking the "Do not show this report in the navigator (desktop module only)" box will confine the report's visibility to the TDNext client, effectively hiding it from the Client Portal Reports menu, and it is recommended that you enable this option.
- Add a chart – There are six chart options this field must be filled out or there will be no report output.
- None – None is the default value when creating a report. Selecting None will set the report output to be a grid list.
- Bar (Horizontal) – This option will return a horizontal bar chart. Drill through to detail is available within Bar Chart reporting. This means Bar chart sections when selected will drill through to a detailed list of records.
- Bar (Vertical) – This option will return a vertical bar chart. Drill through to detail is available within Bar Chart reporting. This means Bar chart sections when selected will drill through to a detailed list of records.
- Line – This option will return an X and Y value line chart.
- Pie – This option will return a Pie Chart. Drill through to detail is available with Pie Chart reporting. This means Pie chart sections when selected will drill through to a detailed list of records.
- Gantt – This option will return a Gantt chart with Start Date, End Date, and Percent Complete values.
- Desktop delivery –
- The Show radio button options are “Grid” or “Chart”. Select the Grid radio button if you’ve selected “None” for the Add a chart field. Select the “Chart” button if you have selected any of the chart types Bar (Horizontal), Bar (Vertical), Line, Pie, or Gantt.
- Page Size – the numeric value you select here will be the number of returned records that display in your report. The Page Size options are 5, 10, 20, 30, 50, 100, or 200.
- Exporting – Hyperlinks will be included in report exports if the “Include hyperlinks when exportin this report” checkbox is checked.
- Email Delivery – Click the “Add” button if you would like to setup a schedule for this report to be ran and sent via an email. You can set the scheduled interval, time, format (Excel, PDF, or HTML), and Recipients of the report.
